Privacy Policy

In one sentence: this site has no sign-up, does not know who you are, and never receives a font file. Only after you tick the box on the Contribute page are the measurement results of the fonts on your own computer sent to the server.

Here is exactly where that information goes. If you only browse and never touch Contribute, all the site leaves behind is two tiny markers in your browser, so it remembers which theme and language you picked.

1. What reaches us

Data When What exactly Where it lives What it is for
Font measurements You tick the box and submit What the font and style are called, its measurements, which characters it covers, and one sample picture drawn with that font Our server Build a font library anyone can look up
File name and size Same The name of the file on your computer (e.g. msyh.ttc) and how big it is Our server For reference only; used in no decision
A monthly code Worked out on the server when you submit A code tied to your device that cannot be traced back to you Our server Stop the same font being counted twice, and cap how much one person can send per day
When you agreed The moment you tick the box The time you agreed Our server A record that we did ask you
Theme and language When you switch theme or language Two tiny markers (cookies) Your browser So you do not have to pick again next time
Data in your browser Created as you use the site A random code, which fonts you sent, which fonts your computer has, what you starred Only inside your browser, never uploaded The pages need it to work

2. What never reaches us

  • Your name, phone number, email address or ID documents — there are no accounts here and nothing to sign up for;
  • The font files themselves — a font is read once inside your browser and that is the end of it;
  • Where you are, what is on your clipboard, who is in your contacts, which other sites you visited;
  • No third-party analytics or advertising code is installed here.

3. Where that "monthly code" comes from

So that the site can tell "same person as last time" (one font should not be counted over and over) without knowing who you are:

  1. Your browser makes up a random string of letters and numbers and keeps it on your machine only (in the little space browsers set aside for each site, which only this site can read).
  2. When you submit, that string is sent to the server, which turns it into a different code with a method that cannot be run backwards, then throws the original string away and keeps only the code.
  3. The key used for that is replaced every month, so the same person gets a completely different code each month and two months cannot be joined up.
  4. Clearing this site's data in your browser is the same as becoming someone new. The cost is that old records can no longer be recognised as yours; that is accepted.

4. Why we are allowed to handle this

Under Article 13(1) of the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China: you agreed.

If you do not agree, the site sends not a single request — not even the lookup that would tell you whether a font is already in the library.

To take your consent back:

  • go back to the Contribute page and untick the box; or
  • clear this site's data in your browser (in the browser settings: "clear data for this site" / "clear cookies and site data").

Nothing new will be submitted after that. For what you already sent, see section 7.

5. Where the data is kept

The server is in mainland China. Your information is not sent out of the country.

6. How long it is kept

  • Font measurements and the monthly codes: kept long term (this library is the whole point of the site);
  • File name, file size, the time you agreed: kept alongside the font entry they belong to;
  • Server logs: kept only briefly while fixing a fault, never archived long term, and never used to analyse who visited;
  • What is in your browser: yours to clear whenever you like.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete this information, or take your consent back.

One thing has to be said plainly: there is nothing on our side that points back to you. The server does not keep that random string from your device, and the code changes every month, so in most cases we cannot go from "a person" to "those particular records". If you can give concrete clues — the file name you submitted, roughly which day — we can use them to find and delete the matching entries.

For any of this, find me on GitHub: github.com/summerset-zz

8. Children

The site is not aimed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their information. If you are a parent or guardian and find that a child has submitted something here, contact me and I will delete it.

9. Links to other sites

The site links to GitHub, Google Fonts, the Open Font License site and the Chinese ICP registry. Once you follow one of those, that site's own privacy policy applies and this site has no say over it.

10. This policy will change

When it does, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If the change has to do with what is collected or how it is used, it will be said somewhere obvious on the site.
