Terms of Service

These terms describe what you and FontCover owe each other. If you open or use the site, you accept them.

1. Who runs this

FontCover (fontcover.com, "the site") is a free website built by Summerset in their spare time. It is not a company and it does not sell anything. The site is filed with the Chinese ICP registry under 津ICP备2026003175号-1.

The site does not offer font downloads: no font file is stored here and none is passed on to anyone.

2. What the site does

  • Look up fonts: what a typeface looks like, how many characters it has, what its measurements are, with a sample image;
  • Look up characters: which ones a given font covers;
  • Measure fonts on your own computer (the font files never leave your browser);
  • Save favourites (kept in your browser only);
  • Contribute: send the measurement results of the fonts on your machine so other people can look them up too.

Any of this may be added, paused or shut down at any time. This is a free site maintained by one person in their spare time: it may not always be online, and not every change will be announced.

3. Please don't

  1. crawl, mirror or republish the site at scale, or visit it far more often than a normal reader would;
  2. submit invented font data, or data whose origin you cannot vouch for;
  3. use the site for anything unlawful under the laws of the People's Republic of China;
  4. get in the way of the site working — including circumventing submission limits, attacking the server, or stress-testing it.

4. Font data and copyright

  1. The site shows measurement results: names of families and styles, measurements, which characters are covered, and sample images drawn from the font itself. None of that is a font file, and none of it can be turned back into one.
  2. Copyright in the font itself belongs to its author or publisher. The site gives you no licence to any font. For commercial use or redistribution, ask the rights holder.
  3. If you think an entry infringes your rights, contact me with, as far as you can: the font name and page address, evidence that the rights are yours, and an address to reply to. Once I have checked it, I will remove that entry from the public listings (the record itself is kept, so the decision can be reviewed and the font does not creep back in).
  4. Some entries link out to GitHub, Google Fonts or a licence text. Those are not provided by this site and I am not responsible for them.

5. The data may be wrong

The data comes from what visitors' browsers reported plus some public font repositories. It is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete or current. Sample images are drawn by a program from the font's shapes and may look different from what you see on your own screen (systems apply their own display adjustments, and those are outside the scope of this drawing).

Treat all of it as a reference. Before using a font for real typesetting or design work, check it on your own computer and read what the rights holder says.

6. No warranty

  1. The site is provided "as is". I make no promise that it works, keeps working, or suits your particular purpose.
  2. To the extent the law allows, the person running the site is not liable for indirect loss, lost data or lost income arising from using the site or from being unable to use it.
  3. The site is maintained by one person in their spare time and may go offline for maintenance, because of a fault, because of network trouble, or because of events outside my control.

7. Children

The site is not aimed at children under 14. If you are a parent or guardian and find that a child has submitted data here, contact me and I will delete it.

8. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes too; if the change affects your rights or obligations, I will say so somewhere obvious on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the new version.

9. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. If a dispute comes up over these terms or over your use of the site, please contact me first; if we cannot work it out, either side may take the matter to the people's court with jurisdiction where the person running the site lives.
